Patient Profile: Tawnya
Tawnya became a Mission patient upon returning to Abilene after 20 years of living in Clovis, NM.
Tawnya couldn’t believe her eyes when she saw her new physician.
“That’s my doctor!” she said as she was greeted by Dr. George Woodward, who had been Tawnya’s surgeon about 30 years before.
Tawnya had been living in Clovis, NM, for the past 20 years and had moved back to the Abilene to be closer to her mother. She turned to the Medical Care Mission because she is self-employed and does not carry private insurance, but she had no idea that Dr. Woodward had joined the staff in the meantime.
“He remembered me,” she said, “and it was such a comfort to see a familiar face.”
Tawnya said she enjoys the new facility on Pine Street and is grateful for the level of care that she receives from Woodward and the staff.
“We’re past the handshake stage,” Tawnya says, “We go straight to the hug.”
